March 4, 2005 Deadline

In conjunction with the presentation in the City of Houston of the international traveling outdoor exhibition Coexistence, the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County is pleased to announce a juried competition for Houston artists.

The juried competition is open to professional artists who live or work in Houston and who are interested in presenting artwork on the theme of "coexistence." The deadline for submissions for the juried competition is March 4, 2005. A jury of local artists and arts professionals will select up to 30 of the entries as finalists and the three top entries will receive cash awards of $1,000. The Houston finalists will be shown in an indoor exhibition to be held at the Cultural Arts Council's Space 125 Gallery in April 2005. For additional information and to download the Call for Artists and registration form, please click here.

Coexistence is an outdoor exhibition of artist-designed posters created by the Museum on the Seam through an international competition with a prestigious world-wide jury selecting the best works for the public displays. The outdoor Coexistence exhibition will be presented by the City of Houston and the Holocaust Museum Houston in April 2005 at Hermann Square and will be accompanied by a series of community dialogues, film screenings and children's activities on the theme of coexistence. The Houston artists' juried competition is one of the ancillary events being planned. To learn more about Coexistence, visit www.coexistence.art.museum/eng/exhibitions/traveling.htm .
