Economic vitality is directly linked to the quality of the local environment
and to a positive community identity. Civic art and design the public art, architecture, landscape and urban design that define public spaces can shape the environment, help create identity, and serve as a catalyst for community. Civic art and design can contribute significantly to Houston's quality of life, both for the people who already live, work, and play every day
in Harris County and for those who visit and imagine making this region their home.
What are we trying to accomplish?
An initiative of the Public Art and Urban Design Program of the Cultural Arts Council of Houston/Harris County (CACHH), the Houston Framework offers the tools, identifies the demonstration projects, and outlines the administrative structure needed to provide Houston and Harris County with civic art and design that will enhance the local environment. The Framework serves as a guide for CACHH's efforts in this area and as a resource for the community.
