In an effort to showcase the talent of Houston's thriving visual arts community and one of the most dynamic art markets in the country, the City of Houston and the Houston Arts Alliance invite artists living and working within Houston to submit works of art for a juried exhibit inside City Hall.
 
Each year, City Hall receives thousands of visitors and employees alike and this exhibit has proved successful in both City Hall and the City Hall Annex.  We hope you will consider sharing your talent so we may promote your contributions to Houston's arts community.

ELIGIBILITY AND GUIDELINES

• Open to all artists living within the limits of the City of Houston.
• There is no fee to submit artwork for this exhibition.
• The exhibition will be juried from actual work.
• Artists are limited to one (1) entry.
• Only works in 2-dimensional media will be accepted.
• Only original works are eligible; works created in art classes or copies of works will be disqualified.
• Works that are not stable enough to endure the exhibition will be disqualified.
• All artwork submissions (such as drawings, prints or photographs) must be framed. Works on canvas must be stretched.
• Framed artwork must be no larger than 36”x 42” in either direction; and can be no more than 4” deep.
• All artwork submissions must be light enough to be handled by one person.
• All works must be ready for installation upon submission; do not submit work which is not ready to handle (i.e. wet paintings and/or work without installation hardware).

Submissions
Monday, May 12, 2008 - from 11 am to 7 pm
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - from 11 am to 7 pm

Jurying
Wednesday May 14, 2008

Notification/pick-up work Only artists who have work accepted for exhibition will be notified by telephone by 6 pm Wednesday, May 14, 2008. If you have not been called by 6 pm on May 14, your work was not accepted for exhibition and you must pick it up from space125gallery. HAA is not equipped to store artwork and DOES NOT ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ABANDONED ARTWORK.

Pick Up Dates
Thursday May 15, 2008 – from 11 am to 7 pm
Friday May 16, 2008 – from 11 am to 7 pm

Opening Reception
Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from 5 pm to 7 pm

Artwork will be on display in city Hall and the City Hall Annex up to nine months, from May 28, 2008 - February 20, 2009.
