Opportunity:

This project is an opportunity for selected artist(s) to create a master plan for civic art along two intersecting thorough fares in downtown Houston: Texas Avenue (east-west) and Avenidas de las Americas (north-south). This "L" shaped corridor connects Buffalo Bayou at Sesquicentennial Park with the Toyota Center and Root Square. The framework will illuminate methods and/or materials for creating civic art which will knit together several major stakeholders in downtown including civic, sports and artistic entities by commemorating specific people, places or events that are tied to a location. The selected artist(s) will be required to work with many members of Houston's diverse community to assure that the plan supports and integrates the interests of these various stakeholders.
