Introduction

The Houston Parks Board has an opportunity to celebrate the unique creative energy that abounds in Houston while simultaneously generating financial support for the Parks Board’s efforts to support our parks.  Rather than continuing to maintain the functional yet ordinary benches found in Houston’s parks, we believe we can increase civic pride and engage the public’s imagination with commemorative benches designed by a Houston artist.

Since 1976, The Houston Parks Board has created, improved and protected parkland throughout Houston. This mission takes many forms and has many themes.  The Parks Board now has a program to fulfill the need for artful park furnishings which will generate a portion of its operating income from the dedication of these unique benches.
